Theraputic Approaches

Emotionally Focused Therapy

A therapy approach that is rooted in attachment history in family and interpersonal relationships, emotional expression, effective communication, and understanding relationship patterns. Emotionally Focused Therapy is a very guided process where the therapist creates a structured environment to be a process consultant, emotion explorer, alliance builder, and active participant in the therapy process. The focus of sessions is identifying each person’s role in the interactions cycles that are causing distress then through increased awareness, the couple and therapist work together to replace the interaction cycle with a new one where there’s open communication, emotional reconnection and space for emotions while repairing the relationship.
