specialties
expressive techniques for children, adolescents, teens, and young adults

Hi, I'm Crystal and I am currently a Resident in Counseling. I received my M.Ed in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have been working as an elementary school counselor for the past twelve years until recently deciding to pursue further certification as a LPC so that I can practice outside of the school setting. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. I use many different approaches and techniques and try to personalize my therapy to what works best for the client. I believe the most effective way to reach children is through play and expressive techniques. My hope when working with people of all ages is that with support and empowerment, I can help them move outside of their existing comfort zone and enrich their lives.

Monica (Cropped).jpg
specialties
emdr, cognitive &dialectical behavioral, family systems

Hi! I’m Monica Dabney, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years counseling experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families in several settings to include group home, long term care, residential, intensive in-home, private, and outpatient. I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I am a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist and use it to treat conditions that affect the client’s mental health. My theoretical framework consists of using an integrative approach with an emphasis on client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, family systems, and solutions focused interventions. My areas of focus include trauma, emotional and behavioral stressors, relationships, life changes, and transitions. The first step to seeking change is you. Making yourself mentally fit is an uncomfortable process, but with time, you will begin to understand yourself differently, building a new path and developing new worldviews. Being brave is listening to your knowing, doing what is beautiful, and finding direction on your path for healing. My goal is to create a safe space that encourages exploration of challenges to ultimately foster growth and healing.
